The Top 3 Considerations For Your New Community

May 28, 2025

Developing a community, especially one as ambitious and interconnected as the iConnect Community, is no simple task. It requires thoughtful planning, collaboration, and a deep understanding of how people LIVE, WORK, SHOP, and PLAY

To ensure the success and longevity of our community, we must integrate these key lifestyle pillars. By doing so, we not only create a vibrant, supportive environment for residents and businesses but also ensure we are mindful stewards of the environment.

Community design plays a pivotal role in achieving this vision. As we continue to grow, the following core elements will guide our initiatives and decision-making processes, helping us shape a place where connection, convenience, and sustainability thrive.

Number 1: Connectivity and Accessibility

It would be short-sighted to assume that all members of our community can or want to rely on a car to access essential amenities. Designing with this assumption in mind fosters isolation and can take a serious toll on both physical and mental health. Not to mention, the increased traffic and environmental strain would be just as harmful.

Research shows that connected communities benefit from stronger local economies and better health for their residents. iConnect is fully invested to becoming such a community, with an elaborate network of walkable paths and streets, dedicated bike routes and lanes, and accessible public transit. Every key amenity is within the community. Residents feel more connected to their neighbours and local businesses, physically and emotionally.

Number 2: Green and Public Spaces

Green space is often left behind with urban sprawl, which is problematic for both our people and our planet. The benefits of including green space in community design are as significant as they are common sense, so why aren’t they being developed more thoroughly?

Maybe it’s an effect of being geographically close to so many major Ontario green spaces, including the Green Belt and the Bruce Trail, but we’ve devoted a significant portion of the iConnect Community’s overall plan to including such green space. Our parks and nature trails are all interconnected and link seamlessly with existing trail networks. This helps to preserve local flora and fauna, and lets residents experience them natively. We’d love for you to see Ontario’s natural beauty for yourself!

Number 3: A Sense of Belonging

Having all the amenities a resident might need within walking distance is one thing. Designing the community to encourage them to gather and create social spaces is another challenge entirely. The success of our community hinges on everyone within it having a sense of belonging.

iConnect has a wealth of gathering spaces, between local businesses, sports facilities, and lots more. We encourage togetherness at every opportunity, with events like our Toy Drive (link) and our many sponsorships throughout the Flamborough community (can list mcdonalds sponsor too). We hope every resident of iConnect doesn’t just feel like they’ve picked a place to live; we want them to feel like they’ve found a home!

We’re dedicated to making iConnect thrive!

These three elements have been at the heart of our planning since the beginning and will stay there as we continue to develop iConnect. Our successful growth hinges on maintaining a connected community that supports its residents, businesses, and the environment.
